Lightning system is one of the most important factors which are used to introduce a car’s technology advance, in particular well-known and senior products. On this race, Audi is the leader; meanwhile, BMW is following after. When spending Bi-xenon time, here is the period of LED. One true thing is that Audi are going to ahead in comparison with its opponents as BMW and Mercedes.
In 2007, the first LED is used for kinds of Lexus. However, Audi is the first brand which has launched a system of full LED. Thanks to its progress, LED has become one of the most common headlights in this market at this time. From luxurious and expensive autos to normal motors, all are equipped by LED.
AUDI and its new progress
AUDI LED Headlights
The newest achievement of Audi is Audi LED Matrix headlights which were presented at mid-November in Germany. Let’s take a look at its special function. When cornering, LED Matrix will curve the light in the direction of the curved path automatically. Especially, if receiving information about the road, this process will carry out automatically before the driver turns around the steering wheel. In case that the camera
detects opposite cars, the light system will decrease the light intensity automatically. Instead of shining directly towards the approaching objects, the light beams will spread around the areas or sideways to diminish accidents. If there are no opposite cars, the lights will return to the normal state.
Therefore, in “the game of light”, Audi is rather optimistic about its LED technology. However, when entering the American market, Audi brand got some troubles because the American experts think that this technology is not safe. According to National Highway Traffic Safe Administration (NHTSA), the light system of Audi can create some inconvenience to other drivers because of its brightness.
Thus, Audi brand decided to send a petition to NHTSA to persuade and affirm the LED’s quality. Moreover, it also continues researching and pursuing this light sphere. With a huge desire, Audi wants to design the best light which can interact with any environment.
Mercedes and BMW – Start competing
Active Multi-beam LED of Mercedes
Mercedes decides to launch a new choice with a name Active Multi-beam LED next year. In the beginning, Mercedes has introduced a new brand – S Class – which is totally equipped by LED headlights. With the new light system, this automaker in Stuttgart has designed a new concept of Full LED headlights (it means that all the headlights are LED).
To each luxurious Mercedes auto,
there are 500 LEDs in total including 56 bulbs for the front headlight, 36 ones for the taillight and 300 ones for the interior cavity. Despite being a leader in Bi-xenon, Mercedes has recognized the potentiality of LED in the future i.e. illumination, fuel-saving, etc.
BMW with Angel Eye Headlights
BMW is one of the pioneering brands about Xenon headlights, and became famous thanks to Angel Eye. However, BMW has made up its mind to become the leader once again when equipping a new LED technology for its autos i.e. Crossover i3 and i8. Since 2011, BMW’s engineers have studied LED and transferred its basic light (bluish color) into pure white light (rather comfortable with naked-eye and not harmful).
In general, designing advanced headlights is a way that the automakers show off their technology. Importantly, it’s the best place so that they can confirm their position. Furthermore, it will be a sign to recognize the most stunning brands.
